0.50 cent Fare rollback takes effect Nov.7 Friday!
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Wednesday that the implementation of the new fares in jeepney and bus is on November 7 and 10, respectively. This means a good news to all Filipinos who commute everyday. Although the price rollback is just 0.50 cents there are still pending petitions to roll the prices back up to P1.50 for jeepneys and P2.00 for buses.
We are hoping to see that the succeeding price rollback before the year ends. The fare reduction was due to the falling oil prices in the world market. The local oil prices have dropped too. The diesel prices have gone down 12 times since July for a total of P16.50 a liter, while gasoline had been cut 13 times for a total of P15.50 a liter.
The LTFRB has yet to decide on a petition to remove the P10 “add-on” for taxi fare.
